These magnets, called rhombic tiles, can be assembled in many ways to tessellate, or completely cover the surface with no gaps or overlaps. The magnets can also be fit together to create an aperiodic Penrose tiling which never exactly repeats its pattern no matter how large the tessellation gets. Arcs and hatch marks on the magnets serve as guides for creating the Penrose tiling.
